Prior to becoming a yoga teacher, Rebecca spent close to 20 years in the travel industry working for a large travel wholesaler. She travelled regularly to Europe, India and Africa. In addition, Rebecca’s personal travel experiences have seen her in North, South, East and West Africa, Asia, Western and Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean, USA, UK and Ireland. Rebecca believes the exposure to cultures, risks, challenges and moments of bliss that travel brings, is an education that broadens the mind and soothes the soul. With two young children, Rebecca’s travel adventures occur a little closer to home these days, on family camping trips and weekends away.

“I believe the freedom and happiness we create through the practice of yoga enables us to share these qualities with others. Do what you love and love what you do is certainly a reality for me now that I teach.”

I was first introduced to yoga during rehabilitation for illness back in the late 1980s. The seed was planted and remained with me while I travelled the world for several years in the mid-to-late 1990s. Upon my return to Australia in 1999, I began a regular practice and haven’t looked back. Initially, it was a very physical practice for me; I’d come from a dance background where emphasis was placed on ‘achieving the pose’ rather than ‘honouring your limits’. It was quite refreshing to honour my body rather than sacrifice it for the practice. Then, the more I practised, the more I realised I was working with much more than just the physical; this instigated a much deeper appreciation for what yoga is really about.

I became a yoga teacher after nearly 20 years working in the corporate world. My work saw me travel a lot, internationally and interstate, and after a while I found I was doing something I didn’t really love anymore. After much deliberation, in 2009 I completed a teacher-trainer course with Samadhi Yoga Newtown. I then left the corporate world to dedicate my life to sharing my love of yoga. From my genuine appreciation and interest in all cultures and beings, arises my honest desire for all to be free and happy. I believe the freedom and happiness we create through the practice of yoga enables us to share these qualities with others. Do what you love and love what you do is certainly a reality for me now that I teach.

I did my first Yoga Synergy class in around 2001, and I was hooked! I find the Yoga Synergy sequences to be the most well-rounded, complete and nurturing practices available, providing strength, flexibility and a deep, quiet inner calm. At Yoga Synergy you can always modify your practice to suit your needs, so it can meet you where you are at on any given day. The thought and knowledge that has gone in to these sequences, and the longevity of the school, is unique in a saturated yoga market. I have always felt in safe hands when practising at Yoga Synergy.
