This is a great article John McWhorter shared with me which outlines important reasons why many physiotherapists are no longer saying simply suck in your bellybuttons to protect your spine. This is why the diaphragm is such a important muscle in yoga and the missing key to the yogic style ‘core stabilisation’ effect of mula bandha.
