‘Advanced Yoga Fundamentals: Essentials for teaching Yoga’ is a must-do online yoga teacher training program for anyone who wants to become a yoga teacher and/or deepen their yoga practice. Between them, Bianca Machliss and Simon Borg-Olivier have practised and studied yoga for over half a century. They are the founders and directors of one of Sydney’s pioneer yoga schools, Yoga Synergy, which took its first tentative steps in the mid-1980s, long before yoga hit its stride as one of the most popular forms of exercise practised in the West today.

This course is a minimum 24 hours online and you will gain Continuing Education Points (CEP) credited with: Yoga Alliance (24 CEP per course) or Yoga Australia (12 CEP per course)

Online Yoga Teacher Training

Bianca and Simon’s combined expertise – as yoga teachers and physiotherapists – led to the development of the university course, Body, Breath and Movement, at RMIT in Melbourne. That course forms the basis of ‘Essentials for teaching Yoga’. The online yoga teacher training course blends modern science with traditional hatha yoga, with a focus on the practical application of anatomy and physiology to enhance your yoga practice.     I love this style of yoga, blending Eastern traditional yoga with western science. Allowing our modern bodies the opportunity to discover union but in a safe way. The Fundamentals course is amazing, I feel so confident and energized as a teacher knowing I can truly help my students. After 30 years of practicing yoga and 15 years of teaching, my wrists were getting very sore from all the downward dogs I was doing. After one week of practicing them with a mani bandha (co-contraction around my wrist) I became painfree! Many of my students are commenting on how old injuries are resolving after practicing this way. Since you actively move into all of your poses in a relaxed way you don't even feel like you are working, and yet you become stronger and more flexible and most importantly you can feel energy moving throughout your body. I believe like Simon and Bianca have so much knowledge and know that I am only scratching the surface. I also throughly enjoyed the Applied Anatomy and Physiology course and am looking forward to continuing my education with them. Their courses offers more then you can imagine and are a must if you want to practice yoga in a safe way with non traditional bodies.

    What drew me to this course was the sound knowledge of yoga principles and physiotherapy aspect as it relates to western bodies. My own practice has definitely been invigorated on a physical and spiritual level. I will definitely be exploring the other online courses offered.

    This course dramatically changed my 20 year old practice. I find that by applying the principles taught in this class, I am floating through, versus "powering through" challenging vinyasa sequences. If you want to truly discover what it feels like to embody stira and suka, take this course. The sequence is taught so that it can be easily applied to students of all levels, with a strong emphasis on injury prevention, which is sorely needed in the yoga world today. Can't recommend this course enough.

    I loved the course!
    The fundamental course provides a level of understanding of the philosophy of yoga, am important concept to understand as a teacher.
    The content is clearly set out, easy to follow and comprehend. Each module is set out clearly, with reading, videos and the assignments to complete. The assignments are essential to understanding the concepts developed in the module. Simon always answered any question that I had if I struggled to understand a topic as part of the studies and course requirements.
    The course helped deepen my own yoga practice.

    Enjoyed the course immensely. For me personally, taking the Anatomy and Physiology of Yoga course prior to this one worked better, and I definitely recommend them both and in that order. Then you come to your YTT totally prepared and fly through it, cementing the knowledge and reinforcing the skills. Personally I would not qualify anyone to be yoga teacher without them passing both courses and passing with at least 85% if not 100%.
    No one can teach unless they understand what really is going on in someone body. These two fundamental courses are a must.
