Yoga Fundamentals: Inversions
Learn to safely do inverted postures to reverse the effect of gravity on the body. In the old Vedic texts, the inverted postures were referred to as viparita karani and were said to offer a number of positive health benefits, which modern science has confirmed. Benefits of the inverted postures, when practised regularly, include improved kidney function, and decreased respiration rate, lung ventilation and oxygen consumption. Inversions are known to be an excellent preparation for meditation and relaxation.
