The benefits of Fluid Movements – Why we should not move to our maximum range of motion.

Improving the health of your circulation through healthy blood flow and moving energy and good information through your body.

Although moving through a full range of movement can have some short-term benefits in terms of flexibility and strength in some ways, it tends to block circulation and can over-stimulate the nervous system adversely if you begin to get a sense of stretch or muscular tension.

If you wish to enhance the function of your circulatory system and nervous system to help you have a happier, healthier and longer life, then it more effective to move only about 50-80% of your maximum range of motion when you are moving fluidly in your dynamic practices.

It is also much more effective in terms of circulation of energy if you move in curved paths as opposed to moving back and forth along the same path.

In this short video I discuss this concept in a talk with Francesca, who is director of Yoga In Salento, where I am happy to say I am teaching a 3 week intensive course in May 2020. FIND OUT MORE HERE
