Yoga Class Descriptions

Yoga Synergy has a range of different classes to suit all levels from beginners to advanced students. If you’ve never attended Yoga Synergy yoga classes before we recommend you start with a YS-Vinyasa, Beginner Course, YS-Yin or Prenatal class. Our YS-Dynamic is the next level up from YS-Vinyasa. At Yoga Synergy Bondi Junction we also offer a range of classes that compliment your yoga practice such as Q-Flow (qi-gong), Myofascial Release, and Pilates – beginners welcome. For class times, see Yoga Synergy Newtown and Yoga Synergy Bondi Junction. If you are new to Yoga Synergy, check out New Students and follow the steps to get started.

Everyone welcome, from complete beginner to advanced students – the Yoga Synergy method caters for everyone. The Vinyasa class is our Level 1 class and the best one to start with for your first Yoga Synergy class.
In the Yoga Synergy method, each posture is taught with simple through to complex versions, enabling you to vary the intensity of your practice. We encourage you to practice responsively and to be in the present moment, choosing which version of the posture is appropriate to you on the day – this can change from day to day.

Emphasis is on balancing strength and flexibility, relaxation, correct breathing and flow, to increase your confidence and zap stress!

YS-Vinyasa class follows the Yoga Synergy progressive 9 week program. In this program we focus on one of the 5 Yoga Synergy sequences (Earth, Water, Fire, Air & Ether) designed by physiotherapists and experienced yoga practitioners Simon Borg Olivier & Bianca Machliss.

It doesn’t matter what part of the 9 weeks you join in. Each week focusses on different aspects of the practice: alignment, anatomical safety, flow and adjustment by our experienced teachers, culminating in a dynamic, flowing, meditative practice that is signature to the Yoga Synergy method.

These classes are great for cultivating your own practice and understanding of yoga. They are safe, fun and give you a cardiovascular workout. At the same time, use of balancing  pranayama (breathing) and meditation, means you are able to go deeper into postures, and reconnect to your true essential nature.

Suitable for: Anyone and everyone – no experience required but advanced  practitioners will have a good practice. We recommend if you have never tried Yoga Synergy method  to start with these classes.

Duration: 60, 75 & 90 minutes. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to start time.

Take your practice to the next level! Learn a more challenging series of postures and advance your practice in an energising group environment.

YS-Dynamic is our Yoga Synergy Level 2 class. We recommend you start with a Vinyasa (Level 1) class for your first class with us.

We also recommend committing to coming to at least one YS-Dynamic class per week to fully benefit from the progressive nature of the Yoga Synergy method. However, being in a more advanced class is not about doing more fancy postures. Anyone is welcome as long as you are able to leave your ego at the door and do simpler versions of postures when its appropriate for you.

Over our 9 week program you will learn with a group of committed yogi’s and progress towards an uplifting flowing practice to music in the final class.

So that you get the maximum benefit from these classes, we recommend that you also come along to the YS-Flow classes, which follow the YS-Dynamic class sequence weekly – its a chance to put into practice what you learnt in the YS-Dynamic class and experience your own yoga practice in an energising group environment.

Morning classes: The birds are singing, the sun is rising…..the best time to do yoga and begin to develop a regular and committed practice.

Suitable for: Students with some experience of Yoga Synergy method, or those who are able to leave their ego at the door

Duration: 1.25h, 1.5h, please arrive 10-15 minutes before start time.

Join a fun and dynamic flow through practice to music mixed  specifically to enhance your practice and awaken a sense of joy within. These classes follow the YS-Dynamic class practice of that week in silence to music. Our experienced teachers indicate when to change postures with a simple click (and if needed some minimal verbal guidance), so it’s a good idea if you’ve tried some of the YS-Vinyasa or YS-Dynamic classes before coming along – but if you haven’t that’s fine, all you need is a fun and playful attitude.

1 hour YS-Flow classes will have simple instruction so they’re a great way to start ‘going with the flow’.

Suitable for: Practitioners who enjoy dynamic group energy, amazing music (from traditional to funky) and want the opportunity to have a meditative blissful yoga experience.

Duration: 60, 75 & 90 minutes. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to start time.

YS-Yin style class is a Yoga Synergy styled slower class. The class includes slower moving gentle yoga postures, yet still in keeping with the Yoga Synergy method. Focus is on simple breathing, meditation & relaxation techniques.

Emphasis is on grounding down, slowing down, and self-nurturing. Working to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, bringing the body and mind into a calm, relaxed yet alert disposition.

Suitable for: Anyone and everyone – no experience required.

Duration: 60 minutes. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to start time.

Yoga Synergy offers pregnancy classes specially designed to help mothers towards a healthy and less stressful birth process. Yoga practice during pregnancy creates a sense of well-being and helps prepare a mother's body for the birth of her child. You can join the prenatal classes as early during your pregnancy as you like. Joining early will set you up to keep moving and feel comfortable as your body changes, keep you balanced, and reduce common aches and pains associated with pregnancy.

If you are new to yoga, pregnant and under 30 weeks, you are also welcome to attend Level 1 or 1 Hour classes at either North Bondi or Newtown schools until we re-open in Bondi Junction – all Yoga Synergy teachers are trained to safely teach pregnant women in these classes.

You may attend the pregnancy classes at any time during your pregnancy. If you are starting yoga for the first time and you are 30 weeks or more, then it is best to start with the pregnancy classes.

If you are less than 30 weeks and this time does not suit you , you are welcome to attend any of our Vinyasa classes as all teachers are able to cater for pregnant women in those classes.

Come along and start with our Introductory Special: 2 weeks Unlimited Classes for $25 (offer available to new students only).

Q-Flow is smooth, continuous and flowing movement based on Chinese Qigong and Tai Chi. Improve your health and vitality with low-impact, linked movements which improve circulation and digestion, and over time create a calm and light physical body.

Qi‘ means energy, ‘gong‘ means practice or cultivation.

The exercises we work with are designed to unblock channels or meridians and release stress and tension, improve strength, flexibility and mobility in all the joints, particularly the spine.

During the practice you will work with breath, movement and mindful intention to work deep into the joints and ligaments, focussing on creating an internal massage using the core (Dantien), at the same time creating a meditative and relaxing practice that brings the mind, body and spirit into balance.

Suitable for: Anyone and everyone – no experience required

Duration: 60 minutes. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to start time.

Myo is latin for muscle and fascia is the connective tissue that lies under the skin, encases muscles, muscle fibres and groups of muscles and even the organs, it connects and blends our whole body together in a unified web.
Myofascial release is about applying safe low level load, in as many directions as possible, mindfully and slowly to as many parts of the body that can be reached. We will primarily be using the foam roller and other tools such as a spikey ball, as well as incorporating poses to achieve lengthening and movement of fascial lines.
The benefits of such self-massage include improving tissue elasticity, flexibility and resilience, and improving blood and lymphatic circulation.

Note: Please bring a towel

Suitable for: Anyone and everyone – no experience required

Duration: 75 minutes. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to start time.
