Workshop Format:
This workshop is divided into three parts:

Part 1: Practical, interactive theory session Part A (45 mins) and B (55mins)
In the first part of this workshop, Simon will give you practical exercises that help explain the key concepts needed to understand the unique Synergy methods of easily accessing postures. These include moving and breathing from your core rather than locking your core.
Part 2: Functional verbally-instructed practice session: (1 hr 10 mins) 
In the first part of this workshop, Simon will lead you through a verbally and visually instructed form of the Synergy Elements Sequence.
Part 3: Meditative visually-instructed practice session: (55 mins)
In the third part of this workshop, Simon will lead you through a fluid and meditative visually-instructed form of the sequence.

About the Teacher

Hi, I’m Simon Borg-Olivier, Physiotherapist and Co-Director of Yoga Synergy.
After 35 years of yoga teaching experience and with my in-depth knowledge of the body as an exercise-based physiotherapist, I would like to share my understanding of the practice of physical yoga and ashtanga vinyasa yoga.

Bianca Machliss and I have developed the Yoga Synergy system over the last three decades as exercise-based physiotherapists. This system includes many ways of working with the postures, movements and breathing taught in Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga and other yoga systems that allow the practice to be safe, accessible, and effective.

The benefits of practising with the methods I will show you include getting:

*** Flexibility without the sense of strong stretching.

*** Anatomical precision for a selection of main postures & their many variations
*** Guiding principles for an efficient practice on a physiological level (e.g. internal organs, immune system, hormones etc.) to enhance health, wellness & longevity
*** Knowledge of opposing muscle co-activation (bandha in Indian yoga) for each joint complex to stabilise & protect your joints & regulate the flow of energy in your body.
*** Body alignment tailored for individual needs & overall safety in each posture
*** Detailed instructions on working with each main joint complex (ankles, knees, hips, waist/lower back, chest/upper back, neck, shoulders, elbows & wrists) to enhance strength, flexibility & fitness.
