‘Anatomy & Physiology of Yoga’ is a practical course, taught in a similar fashion to a yoga workshop. It provides yoga teachers and students with the knowledge and skills to understand how the body works while it practises the asanas (poses and postures), vinyasas (dynamic exercises that combine movement with breath) and pranayamas (breath-control exercises) of hatha yoga.

Applied Anatomy & Physiology of Yoga

I love your work and I feel this course changed my way of looking at the world, hence, the world in my eyes!

I would recommend Simon’s course on the Applied Anatomy and Physiology of Yoga to anyone who is serious about their yoga practice. If you want to really understand what is happening in your body from an anatomical and physiological perspective when you are practicing yoga, then this course is vital.

I’ve been going to Simon’s classes for over 5 years now and that is not even that long compared to many in the class! What keeps us coming back is the the way we can see our yoga constantly evolving as Simon continues to develop his understanding of the human body and the physiological effects of yoga practice on health and wellbeing. With anatomical explanations and differing emphasis, postures that I have been doing for years suddenly seem completely new. The classes bring the mind-fullness back into yoga practice- rather than a series of postures. Simon’s style allows you to also feel the effects that yoga can have on energy levels, concentration and mental state. Every practice feels different and the effects are different day to day depending on the emphasis of the class.

The information I have learnt during Simon’s classes have allowed me to be better in tune with the needs of my body before each practice so i am able to choose for myself what sort of emphasis and energy I should bring to my own practice and have also left me with a better ability to create practice for myself at home that is effective and safe.

    Yoga Synergy online courses have been a direct answer to my prayer for greater physical well-being. Applied Anatomy and Physiology of Yoga not only laid a foundation of simple concepts, but it opened a door to discover profound wisdom of the body’s complexity. My personal health improved instantly from the first words I heard from Simon’s mouth, and having completed the course, I am empowered to approach my body in a simpler, more honest, more balanced, more loving and gentle, more complete way.     I think it is extremely important to have a knowledge of anatomy specially in yoga, both for one’s own asana practice and also teaching. But for most of us, to learn anatomy on one’s own is difficult.
    I am nowhere near Australia and I hesitated for a long time before registering for this Anatomy and physiology course as I have tried other on-line courses that were far too general. I am so glad I did decide to enrol, each topic is very well explained in accessible way being neither too general nor too technical. It is so informative and it has really improved my approach not only to the asana practice but to my understanding of my body. I further think is very valuable to have the book (that is included in the fee) to deepen the knowledge.
    I really recommend this course.

    I loved the Anatomy and Physiology online course.
    My own asana practice improved as each module was completed. I learnt the interaction of the muscle groups, the breathing techniques along with modifications for students with physical concerns for the main asanas.
    Simon personally answered my questions and provide deeper insight to the course assessment questions via phone calls. Having easy access to such a knowledgeable teacher was brilliant.
    The online course with Simon and Bianca is an excellent approach if unable to attend in person.

    Enjoyed the course immensely. For me personally, taking the Anatomy and Physiology of Yoga course prior to this one worked better, and I definitely recommend them both and in that order. Then you come to your YTT totally prepared and fly through it, cementing the knowledge and reinforcing the skills. Personally I would not qualify anyone to be yoga teacher without them passing both courses and passing with at least 85% if not 100%.
    No one can teach unless they understand what really is going on in someone body. These two fundamental courses are a must.
